INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Dr. Cunningham lived abroad much of his professional career—in France, Switzerland, Singapore and Japan, and visited over forty additional countries. He was instrumental in successfully resolving international corporate disputes, concluding contracts and arranging long term cross cultural working agreements.  He has an international family—a wife from Switzerland and children from Japan.  His broad experience, his understanding of foreign cultures and his ability to quickly earn the trust of people of diverse cultures makes him a valuable contribution to any team that wants to achieve the highest benefit from its exposure to foreign companies.

 Not only is he academically qualified with four degrees, having studied in nine institutions of higher learning, he also has an extensive background in real estate, in the mechanical and building trades, in import and export, and in the automotive industry.  He has three valid professional licenses in the building and electrical trades producing an unmatched combination of theory and practice. He has extensive contacts in numerous countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Interprets for business primarily in West Michigan; travels worldwide.

• Handles daily correspondence between American and Japanese firms.

• Specializes in commercial and industrial work (automotive, material handling, electrical, mechanical and machine installation).

• Assists with dispute resolutions (depositions, mediation, etc.) and contract negotiations.  Relates well to Japanese.

EXPERIENCE

• Taught Japanese, German and inter. com. at Davenport University.

• Developed and managed an alcohol rehabilitation facility in Japan, and edited a journal in Japanese on alcoholism (1976 - 91).

• Traveled to nearly forty countries in Europe, Africa and Asia.

• Lived for 20 years in Japan, resided in France, Singapore and Switzerland.

• Entrepreneur: made extensive property purchases.

• Importer / Exporter with Japan and Switzerland.

• Lectured on alcohol abuse, State Hospital, Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia

• Participated in small business seminar, Nepal

• Assisted in educational building project, Ethiopia
